Phone
Hmm, this can be a short thing – the topic is river …
Due to the fact that I work in one of the companies selling phones, I have a greater or lesser influence on the final result.
But let’s start from the beginning… A telephone, like most electronic devices, consists of two basic parts: hardware and software. The hardware can be imagined as a “piece of electronics” meeting the requirements of the GSM standard (and its derivatives). We enclose this equipment in a casing – better or worse looking – it is really a matter of every person’s taste. And as you know – tastes are not discussed – and others will say – as many people as there are opinions. And it all fits …
Since we already have a base, which is hardware, we have the second basic part – software. Here, I don’t think I will find a falsehood – the base for most phones is AOSP – Android Open Source Project – that is, Android in its pure form. And here begins the proper part of the work, i.e. adapting Android to the requirements of the device and, consequently, to work in mobile networks, meeting the requirements of local operators. Hard and tedious work, but valuable – because everyone cares that the phone works and works reliably, does not jam – that is, it works smoothly.
As you probably guessed, each of the manufacturers adds a dozen or so applications to make their product stand out from among all available in the world. And here begins what we see on / on smartphones – something that we like more or less. And it also partly determines what we buy and what not …
From myself I can add that I pay attention to:
. camera (equipment and camera application) – because, in most cases, I have the phone with me and it is the easiest way for me to take a picture, quickly …
. battery (because I care about the working time on the phone) – and, I don’t want to have to recharge the battery too often …
. generally understood performance (processor + memory) – each of us cares about the smooth operation of the device, which is with us almost all the time. And as some say – never too much memory …
. screen – its size. I would like about 5 ″ (because it fits well in the hand and does not take up too much space) but then I remember that I also have to work on it and then the diagonal goes up …
. design – “what a horse is like everybody sees” – sometimes we will sacrifice “appearance” at the expense of other parameters, but there are also those who will sacrifice parameters for appearance. There are so many phones on the market that everyone will surely find the right one for him and her.
I will add literally two words to it: PAI and ZeroTouch. Both solutions are from the same company, the developer of the Android system – that is – Google. The first allows you to provide the phone with a list of applications to be installed during its first configuration. In this way, we will get a list of additional applications that can be installed during the configuration of the device. The selection of the application defines the presence of a SIM card in the phone and the activation of WiFi or cellular data during configuration. The second service called ZeroTouch, which allows you to deliver the MDM agent to the phone during the first start-up, is addressed to business customers who, from the first configuration, want to have the phone under the control of the IT department, because for them – security is the most important thing.
As you can see, a device called a “cell phone” is basically another soulless machine on our services, but managed by those who created it for us, believing that their vision will be our vision. Fortunately, there is the Google Play Store and a lot of applications that will allow us to adapt thesmartphone to our needs. But about this, maybe one day I will delete two more words …
